Two Down....One More To Go

So I thought I would give another update to everyone on what's been going on this past week with Brock. We went back up to Seattle for surgey number 2 on Wednesday. Brock was supposed to be there at 2:00 for a check on his veins, to see if there was any blood clots. We had some car problems and got there a little late, which made us be in the hospital(Harborview) until about 6:30. Brock was really tired by that time and ready to go back to the hotel. The next morning was his surgery. We had to be there at 6:00. We were told it would be about 10 hrs long, so we decided to leave and not wait around. He got put out around 8:00 and they started at 9:30. Little did I know that would be the longest day of my life! It is horrible not being there every minute to see what is going on with him. I worry about him in normal day life....if you asked Brock he'll tell you I call him all throughout the day to see what he's up to. So anyways, it was a really hard day. My mom and sister, Jilayne, came up that day to take me around town and ditract my mind from things. We had a really fun day, as fun as it could've been with me worrying about him. So anyways, I didn't know what time he would be coming out of surgery so I took what they said, it was gonna be 10 hours. So my mom, sister, and I got to the hospital at like 6:00. The waiting room guy called back to the surgery room and they said he wouldn't be done until around 9:00. I was like WHAT?! My mom had already parked the car, which meant we had to pay, so we decided to stay and wait it out. Brock's Dr(Dr. Bernerschke) came out and explained how the surgery went and showed us pictures. He finally came out around 9:20 or so. Then he let us go back to the recovery room to see Brock. We all went back there and Brock was the only one there. I went straight up to him and grabbed his hand. His eyes weren't open at all and his body was so discolored. He was extremely pale. Once I grabbed his hand he sqooze back and I just lost it. It was super hard for me to see him like that. I knew I had to be strong for him, and i didn't want him to see my crying, so left the room. Then after a couple minutes I went back in. His tongue was all swollen with a little sore on the tip. His arms were hurting really bad as well. We later found out that the tube they put down his throat is huge, and it stays in his mouth all surgery. So they said his tongue probably got pinched by the tube somehow. A lot of the doctors up there hadn't seen it happen very much. That was probably the hardest thing for brock, not being able to talk or eat anything. It was really annoying for him. The first night he didn't sleep much. I stayed with him in the hospital to help him get through the nights. The second day was still pretty hard. He was still hooked up to IVs for pain. He was having some pain, so the nurse have him a sort of boost of medication. That really took a tole on him. He was having a really hard time breathing and he told me he thought he wasn't going to live through it. I didn't allow him to say that again. I wouldn't let him talk like that....we had to stay positive. He did get much better. They hooked him back up to oxygen and that helped. He started getting better and that night was great. I think i got more sleep that night than i have in over 2 weeks. (we still probably only got about 5-6 hrs) Then day 3 he started having problems with his stomach. So that was another problem. He was so ready to be out of there by the night of day 3 that he was like no matter what, i'm going home tomorrow. So that's what we did. Sunday at about 12:30 we left to come home. We came home to some really bad weather. There is snow here like crazy. They cancelled my school today(monday) which was good b/c there was no way my little car would get me anywhere! Brock is currently trying to take a nap. He is starting to really hate being stuck in bed. I try to help him keep his mind off of it by playing games, reading to him, watching TV and just talking, but it still doesn't help. He is excited that he is getting better, and he is grateful that it isn't any worse than it is.
About a month ago i told brock that i am so thankful for what we have, strength in ou body. I work at a doctors office and i see old people all day long. I constantly hear "I used to be young and very active...then i got old and can't even walk. young girl...don't ever get old." I hear that probably 10 times a day. So it really got me thinking and made me realize how blessed we really are to have what we do. I know that Brock will be healed. We have alread witnessed two miracles and will witness another one next tuesday when he goes back for his last surgery.

Wow, check out that foot!
Brock still thinks it's not that big.....right!
I spent the night in the hospital with Brock. They
didn't have a bed, just a bench, but I when I slept,
I slept good! Just a little small.

tHe AcCiDeNt...continued

So we have an update on Brock's foot. He went over to Harberview in Seattle and saw an amazing doctor. The doctor told us that he will have to have 3 surgeries total. He went over to seattle on Wednesday and Thursday morning at 6:00 he had his first surgery. His foot had shrunk about 1 in. so they needed to go in and put some rods in to stretch it out. So currently he has some rods in his foot stretching it apart. The doctor told us this would be a very painful surgery....and it was. Brock did really good the first night after surgery, but the second night he came home and that wasn't as great. They released him at 9:00 pm from the hospital on Friday. He is doing really good...for the most part. There are times where he is in a lot of pain. He is just getting tired of laying around and not being able to move and do things on his own. I feel so bad for him. He is being a trooper though, and we are looking forward to the next step towards getting this thing done with! We are thankful for all the prayers, we know they are helping.

Brock's Accident

Ok, so I know that there are a lot of you that are wanting to know exactly what happened....so here's the story....the true one. Brock was riding on Saturday and went off a jump with too much power. His bike sort of started to do a back flip in the air, so he decided to bail off. He pushed his bike forward and hit the ground super hard on his feet. He went to Kania clinic where they told him he would need to have surgery done. We waited until Monday to get into a sergion that then told us we would be needing to go to Seattle because it was in really bad shape(to put it in good terms). He went on Tuesday morning to get a CT done. We decided that we needed a second opinion, so we saw a doctor in WallaWalla that was very helpful. He explained everything to us. Brock's right foot is broken in many places. He has pieces of bone all over. He explained it was going to have to be a very in depth and difficult surgery that he wouldn't be able to do. He also referred us to a dr in Seattle. Brock and his parents headed up there today, wednesday, to have a consult and see what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. So i am (patiently) awaiting the news. Brock and I are currently in school, which makes this very hard for both of us. If you could please keep him in your prayers we would appreciate it. We know that this is a growing experience for the both of us and realize we are blessed that it isn't any worse than it is.
