Living The Life-The Country Life :)

While we were home for Spring Break we had a service day at Grandpa McGary's house. The men did the roofing and the women/kids did the yard. Since I wasn't much help with Wyatt wondering ALL over the place, I was only there a few hours. But a lot got done and everything looked great. Brock hasn't been doing a lot of physical work (pushing a pencil is what he says he's been doing), so with this roofing and digging a trench on Gibbons Farm the day before, he was B.E.A.T! But he loves it. Working and having a day filled with stuff to do makes him feel accomplished.
Wyatt L.O.V.E.S being outside. So regardless of the smokey smell and the wind, he was in heaven. I would literally pull like 3 weeds and turn around and he was gone. He loves to explore and could care less if I'm frantically searching for him.
This picture was the first week in March. We made a quick trip home and boy were we glad we did. The weather was AMAZING! Seriously, light jacket weather. It was the first time the sun had been out (well for us at least) and Wyatt loved every minute of it. We played with the Jenks girls flying kites, riding bikes, pulling weeds and riding motorcycles!  Wyatt only took one nap all day; the excitement of the sun was just too much to let him miss out on the activities. We did go on a bike ride while he was asleep. Which was fun! Brock and I haven't gone like that for a while. Felt like the dating days again, except I'm a little less daring on a bike than I used to be....funny how a ring and a kid changes ya:)
(PS La Grande was getting snow the whole time we were home. So we were extremely happy we slipped home this weekend!)

Fun On The Farm

Wyatt had a great time being babysat by the Gibbons' while Brock and I were at the temple (during our spring break). Joni had him for a while, but these pictures are of when Uncle Jasen was watching him. As you can tell, they had a lot of fun doing boy things! Wyatt has always loved Jasen, ever since he was a little baby. Thanks Jase for watching the little guy, I'm sure he had a blast! :)

Spring Break

It is always so hard for me to get things posted while staying with my parents; so there won't be any pictures to go along with this post. We have been on Spring Break for the past 11 days and we have enjoyed every minute of it! It has been nice to work outside in the yard and spend time with family.

BROCK: Poor guy works so hard during school and dreams about going "home" and working on his old truck. And what does he end up doing all week? Working on the farms. We are extremely grateful that he has been able to bring in some money this week, I just felt so bad for him not getting to have some free time. He did take saturday off and was able to get a motor for the old truck and sale a few cars that have been laying around. He is such a great dealer and is willing to put in some time to make some extra cash.

EMILY: I have really enjoyed my time. I was able to get some books read, cereal made, projects done, playing OUTSIDE with wyatt, and shopping! :) I took advantage of having tons of places to shop, and had fun going to town for 3 different shopping trips. I was also able to plan out a day for my family to all go to the temple together, which we hadn't done since I was married. So it was really great to be together for that.

WYATT: Poor guy was sick coming into the break and is sick leaving the break. He actually got better for about 5-6 days; and I actually think most of the runny nose is teething. He absolutely LOVES to go outside. He would beg anyone that even walked to the utility room in my parents house to go outside. It was great to let him run free...which he literally did. He would see my dad in the tractor way out there and he would start off out to him. He is such an explorer, he doesn't care if he can't see me. He is gone and looking for something interesting. He also is completely in love with his trucks still. My mom has some big ones and he would make his little truck sound and push them all over. He really like putting them up on things now, like a table or couch, and it was funny to watch him get mad when he couldn't lift the big truck up that high. He has added the word "doggy" to his vocabulary and just one time I heard him saying "gam-ma" (she was outside on the 4-wheeler and he could see her thru the window). He has started being a little more picky with his foods and has no learned he can spit things out he doesn't want to eat. It really took him this long to figure it out :) He doesn't like fruit; especially strawberries. He will just smash blueberries and grapes if they are on his tray. But, he LOVES veggies:) Right now, I would say broccoli is his favorite food, along with any kind of noodle! Before we came home Wyatt had started folding his arms for prayer. It was SO stinking cute. I think we might have over used it, because at times we would say "fold your arms" even when we weren't having prayer, and he would do it. Well, not a single time would he fold his arms while staying at Grandma's! Little stinker! He is SUCH a busy boy. He will not sit still and will not cuddle. Keeps me running after him ALL day long, but I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Traumatic Mornings

It was so darn cute this morning, I have to write about it. Every morning is a very traumatic experience for Wyatt. It all starts after breakfast when Daddy gets his shoes and coat on. Wyatt then becomes a little leech and is constantly at Brock's feet. (which is a good time for me to clean up and start dishes!) After family prayer, Wyatt heads straight for the door. Some days he'll stand with his back to the door, like blocking it from brock leaving. Other days he'll pound on it, like saying I'm going out too. This morning he was pounding on it wanting to go out. Lately, we'll watch daddy leave thru the window and all is well as we wave bye bye. Not this morning! Wyatt was crying the whole time in such a sad cry. As brock is waving bye bye outside and gets in the car Wyatt says, as clear as clear, da-daddy! In such a sad little voice and just melts. I had to take him away from the window and distract him with some toys he normally doesn't get. It was so dang sad!!! Wyatt was acting as if he was never going to see his daddy again! I am so thankful for my marriage, brock's career choice and that I don't have to explain to Wyatt that daddy will be back someday....I think if that were the case my little guy wouldn't be able to function!

WE LOVE YOU DADDY!

They Don't Fit Mom!

Wyatt loves packing around shoes. It is so funny to watch him, especially when he packs around Brock's shoes because they are so heavy. You can see the strain on his face as he pulls them around by the laces. He likes to take the end of the lace and put it over his shoulder, so that the shoe dangles behing him, swinging around as he walks. I got a picture of it once, but it was too blurry. He was playing with Brock's shoes and kept sticking his foot in them, so we decided to help him out and put them on.
Let's just say he has some Big Shoes To Fill! (which considering his size 6-7 shoe size, I'm pretty sure he will be filling these shoes all too quickly!)

Saving Every Penny!

Brock and I have been working on budgeting and keeping track of our expenses. We both try to save money any way we can, not just because it's what we HAVE to do with no income, but it is also good to be frugal! I wanted to report a shopping trip I did recently with my couponing:)

14 yoplait yogurts, 4boxes cereal, 12 can crescent rolls, 1pkg frozen rolls, 3 boxes butter, 2 sour cream, 2 containers strawberries, 4 apples, 3 grapefruit, 4 oranges,2 bag yogurt covered raisens, 2 gallons milk, and 2 loafs of bread for a total of $24.36.

Ok, so I know there are ladies out there that would get all this for less than $5, but I don't get the sunday paper, so I consider this pretty darn good!! It was all stuff we needed too (well almost all of it). I was super excited about all the fruit! We haven't had fruit for a while because it's so darn expensive during the winter!

Brock's Having Fun!

Here is a little update on Brock. Over the past year he has really got into restoring old trucks. We found one down here in La Grande that he really wanted. So we got it and he halled it back home. It needed a ton of work (obviously!), but just this past January he found another old truck that was in better condition. So.....we got that one too! Boys and their (expensive) hobbies! BUT, it is fun seeing him get excited and constantly talk about what needs to be done next. He is always pinching pennies trying to find a way to make improvements on his truck. The one pictured is the one he decided to restore. I thought his love for motorcycles was crazy, but wow, this hardly touches that. He is learning a lot on the internet and is excited to put some work into during his Spring Break.
While in La Grande Brock has quiet a bit of spare time. We have been looking for a job for months now, and as you can tell he isn't too bumbed he hasn't found one. Our friend Andy Shinsel is a pilot and took brock flying one day. This was about 2 weeks ago. Brock very much enjoyed it! They were gone about 1 1/2 hrs; they flew to Wallowa Lake. On their way back I went outside to see them, and of course Andy starts doing some sharp turns and scary drops! Looked really fun though!
Here is Wallowa Lake.
