August was hot and we loved being able to spend so much time outside, or at least the kids did :) Brynlie and Wyatt fell in LOVE with corn on the cob. One thing brock and I commented about was how much fresh produce we got living out here compared to in town. Raspberries, strawberries, watermelons, corn, zucchini, tomatoes, onions, peppers, cucumbers and blackberries...we were in heaven! Mom and I did freezer corn and each came away with 18 bags of freezer corn. My kids LOVE it!!!
We had more days of playing with cousins, climbing trees, playing in the mud and we went to Royal City to Allred's pond. It is an irrigation pond with lots of things to do. The Allreds, Dexter's uncle, had set up a rope swing, playground, canoes, paddle boats, zip line. It was a fun afternoon with the kids and cousins.
Mid August I potty trained Brynlie. She had been telling me "potty potty" since May, but I didn't want to do it with the move, and then I needed to be feeling better to constantly be running to the bathroom with her. The first day we didn't have a single success. Then the second day she woke up and just did it! It really took her 4 days to get it complete and I couldn't believe it. She had no accidents for a long time. Then a month later she started having a few, which lasted about a month. But she was good from then on! Cute little tush :)
One day Karyn and I were brave and took all the kids in our van to town. We hit costco for lunch and the crazy kids were so cute. As they were being crazy, brynlie was sitting there just folding her arms. It was so cute. (we took the binki away right before her 2nd birthday. She had a hard 2 days, but was great after that. Although about a month after her birthday she went through a really horrible phase of screaming at night and her naps. She was SO scared to even go to her room. We had to lay with her for about 2 weeks and hope we could sneak out. Then after 2 weeks we had to sit in the rocking chair next to her bed and then sneak out. It lasted a full month and was rough. She stopped napping, even though she still really needed it. Not sure what the deal was. She finally just stopped being scared. We'd read her a book, tell her good night and she'd be ok.)
Wyatt accidentally put Brynlie's shorts on one day. He didn't realize it either. It was so funny seeing his lanky legs in the tiny shorts. Him and Brynlie have the same sized waist appearantly :)
I got a new recipe of canned salsa from a friend and we LOVE it! I made the first batch with my mom. Then did another by myself because we liked it so much. It is chunky and tastes pretty fresh even months later.
One afternoon/early evening I was of course on the couch and I hear lots of screaming/laughing outside. Brock and rigged up a "sled" to pull behind the lawn mower. haha. The kids loved it. Wyatt even stood on it like a "skateboard" he called it.
We used Joni's trimmer and went all over the yard. Oh man this was a big job. Brock trimmed/cut it all, then had to go to work. So I was left with all the hard work of pulling up the grass and hauling it off. It did look so much better afterward!
We had fun at the fair again this year. Brock and I went tuesday night to the VIP area with a customer of his. Then we took the kids on saturday. They had fun on some rides. This was the most we'd done the rides, and it was crazy! Too busy for us, but they did love it.
Brock helped Wyatt make a little track in our front yard for Wyatt's bike. He was in love with it. He rode on it every day til summer was over! His pedal bike isn't a bike. He always corrects us saying it's his dirt bike. This thing is his shadow. He can do SO much on it. It amazes me!
